Environmental Innovations provides all services necessary for starting and running an effective incentive program for businesses to go above and beyond environmental compliance. EI helps businesses implement best management environmental practices in solid waste reduction and recycling, water conservation, energy conservation, and pollution prevention. Numerous businesses have become certified through Green Business Programs, ranging from restaurants to offices, laundromats, and auto repair shops.

Environmental Regulatory Compliance

Client: City of Scotts Valley

Scope: Industrial Inspections, citing, and reporting in accordance with all state and federal regulations – Title40 § 403.

Period: 2007 to Present

Environmental Innovations, with certified Environmental Compliance Inspectors, performs technical industrial monitoring and inspection services. EI also provides assistance in updating regulations and developing management plans associated with stormwater systems.


Client: Ecology Action of Santa Cruz, with grant from the Community Foundation

Scope: Coordinate planning, development and implementation of regional website to increase collaboration among public agencies and non-profit environmental groups, and communication with the public.

Environmental Innovations helped local environmental organizations improve collaboration and communication with the public by constructing a communal environmental website. This new website, www.ecocruz.org, includes links to all environmental organizations, agencies, and events in Santa Cruz County.

Sharp Solutions for Home Medicines

Client: Ecology Action of Santa Cruz, subcontractor to the County of Santa Cruz, with the Cities of Santa Cruz, Scotts Valley, Watsonville, and Capitola. Grant from the California Integrated Waste Management Board.

Scope: Developed collection and disposal program for household pharmaceuticals and used sharps. Coordinated logistics, advertising, stakeholder relationships, and legal elements.

Environmental Innovations has established thirty free sites around the County of Santa Cruz for the collection and disposal of household medicines and sharps, and conducted extensive advertising and promotion of the issue and sites. The program reduces the adverse effects on humans and aquatic organisms of improperly disposed pharmaceutical and sharps waste.

Urban Waste to Biofuels Initiative

Client: Ecology Action of Santa Cruz, with grant from EPA OSWER

Scope: Planned and oversaw development and implementation of pilot program for increasing quantity and quality of waste grease used as feedstock for biodiesel.

Period: 2007 to 2008

Environmental Innovations established a network of local partners to produce, refine, distribute and use B20 fryer oil in local public fleets.
