Josephine Fleming
Ms. Fleming has over fifteen years in the environmental industry, including research, environmental assessment, remediation, environmental compliance, and public outreach. Prior to starting Environmental Innovations, she worked with both the County of Santa Cruz and the City of Santa Cruz coordinating a variety of environmental programs. One of these programs was the Monterey Bay Area Green Business Program, which became a model in California. She was also responsible for the county Environmental Compliance Inspection Program and a federally-mandated Industrial Wastewater Pre-treatment Program. Before moving to the public sector, Ms. Fleming worked as a Senior Environmental Engineer for Seagate Technology, LLC, where she initiated and administered a range of environmental programs involving hazardous waste management, air emissions management, industrial wastewater management, chemical management, chemical hygiene, emergyency response planning, hazardous energies management, and numerous health and safety programs. Ms. Fleming possesses a B.S. in Environmental Science from the University of California, Riverside.
Tom Pickering
Mr. Pickering joined Environmental Innovations in June, 2007. With EI, he took primary responsibility for the Fryer to Fuel Program, working with local restaurants, municipalities, a blender, and a distributor to set up a network to turn local fryer oil into biodiesel to fuel local public fleets. He has also worked extensively with the Green Businss Program in the County of Santa Cruz, and the Cities of Watsonville, Scotts Valley, and Capitola. Prior to joining the firm, he performed biodiesel analysis for the City of Santa Cruz, and developed metrics for best practices in pollution prevention, waste prevention, and resource conservation. Mr. Pickering possesses a B.A. in Environmental Studies and Economics from University of California, Santa Cruz.
Sheila Peck
Since joining Environmental Innovations, Ms. Peck has been responsible for the implementation of the Sharp Solutions for Home Medicines Program. She has worked with local pharmacists and county personnel to establish and maintain sites for the public to dispose of household medicines and sharps. Prior to EI, she wrote Planning for Biodiversity: Issues and Examples, a book to help regional planners understand and implement ecological concepts. Ms. Peck helped facilitate the Northern Sacramento Valley Sustainable Landscpaes Project for the Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, and is experienced in environmental outreach and education. She has two Masters Degrees from University of California, Berkeley: in Environmental Science, Policy, and Management, and in Landscape Architecture (environmental planning focus).
Diana Dakik
With EI, Ms. Dakik has worked with Green Business Program and the Fryer to Fuel Program. Before joining the firm, Ms. Dakik promoted recycling programs for the City of Monterey and the Post Naval Graduate School in Monterey, perfomed solid waste audits, and worked with the Green Business Program in Santa Cruz. She graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a degree in Environmental Studies and Economics.
